Roma non è mai stata solo una città museo. Da sempre la Capitale d’Italia ha dimostrato di essere una città incredibilmente operosa, nella quale esistono imprese d’eccellenza, aziende storiche, e talentuosi artigiani. L’obiettivo della pubblicazione Nostra Roma Artigiana è cercare di raccontare questi antichi mestieri, anche attraverso la riscoperta dei loro segreti, e di alcune curiosità riguardanti l’artigianato storico. Le storie di questi imprenditori meritano oggi di essere raccontate, soprattutto per offrire ai turisti internazionali in visita a Roma uno sguardo sull’anima più autentica del centro storico. D’altronde la magia di Roma non è rappresentata solo dall’arte o dai monumenti più celebri, ma anche e soprattutto dai vicoli, dai rioni storici, e dalle botteghe artigiane, simbolo per eccellenza del Made in Italy, o dovremmo forse oggi dire, più opportunamente, del Made in Rome. Queste attività rappresentano una straordinaria realtà creativa e produttiva, ed una preziosissima testimonianza di cultura e tradizione, parte integrante del patrimonio culturale della nostra città.

Rome has never been just a museum city. Italy’s capital has always proved to be an incredibly industrious city, where there are excellent companies, historic firms, and talented craftsmen. The aim of this publication is to try to tell the story of these ancient trades and crafts, also through the re-discovery of their secrets, and of a few curiosities concerning historical craftsmanship. The stories of these entrepreneurs deserve to be told today, especially to provide international tourists visiting Rome with an insight into the most authentic soul of the historic city centre. Incidentally, the magic of Rome is not only represented by art or the most famous monuments, but also and above all by its alleyways, historic districts, and artisanal workshops, the symbol par excellence of Made in Italy, or perhaps nowadays we should say, more appropriately, Made in Rome. These activities represent an extraordinary creative and productive community, as well as bearing invaluable witness to culture and tradition, an integral part of our City’s cultural heritage.
